The continuous discomfort of an Asthma Attack

Asthma is a chronic disease which inflames and narrows the airways, in effect causing an ongoing, cough or wheezing, leading to breathlessness. In such a situation it is now a struggle to breath, speak or even ask for help. This is triggered by anything that irritates the airways such as dust mites, chest infection, animal fur, tobacco smoke or even exercise.

Despite ongoing research for remedies to control an asthma attack, evidence has shown that in the US, 25 million experienced an Asthma Attack in 2009 with at least 55% of these sufferers having a repeat attack from 2008. 1 out of every 10 children and 1 out of every 12 adults are believed to be affected by this resulting in a daily death rate between 5 and 9. Not only is this attack horrible to experience, but it also affects the close family and friends of such sufferers.

In the UK, 5.4 Million are believed to be affected, this being paramount to at least one attack in every five households. Three persons are believed to die daily from an asthma attack gradually increasing the daily mortality rate of Asthma sufferers in the UK.

That being said it is believed that 75% of hospital admissions and 90% of Asthma deaths can be prevented.
