Eat Fat to Lose Fat, Really?

The extraordinary length that some individuals go to for weight loss is evident in the huge profits that both Weight Watchers and Slimming World make. What neither of these diet industries will state is which food groups burn fat most effectively? Why? Because these particular food industries are designed to keep you in a state of ignorance so that you continue to buy the product. You follow the points system, or eliminate certain foods on red and green days, to maintain a slim figure. This system has worked effectively for years, but the best way to burn fat is to eat fat to lose fat.

This research is even supported by cardiologist, Stephen T Sinatra, M.D., FACN who very clearly states that if you eat fat you’re going to lose fat. He adds, “it is not fat that makes us fat, but sugar.” If you look at diet foods, you may notice hardly any fat content, but sugar will be listed as an ingredient. Sugar causes weight gain, and it is also an addictive ingredient. Even in the study on the diets of Mediterranean individuals, the subjects who were consuming four tablespoons of olive oil per day experienced fewer counts of diabetes, less weight gain, less risk of a stroke and heart attack. This study very clearly indicates that fats are healthy for us.

Sugar Causes Fat Weight Gain

Diet foods contain no fat; therefore they are tasteless and bland. This is why sugar is added to enhance the flavour. Sugar is found in many everyday products, including baked beans and tomato ketchup.

Eat Fat to Lose Fat

Trans fatty acids are hard fats reheated to add texture and flavour. These are not healthy for the heart and should be avoided. Omega 6 (canola, corn oil, and soy bean) fats, are pro-inflammatory and far more common than the omega 3 (salmon, squid oil, and walnuts) anti-inflammatory fats, and should be limited. Eat more omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Mono-unsaturated fats cause no insulin response, which means that they do not contribute toward abdominal weight gain. Avocados and olive oil are two such excellent fats. Dr Stephen states that one of the healthiest saturated fats to cook with is coconut oil. Another important point to note when cooking with saturated fats is that they are not prone to oxidation. Butter is another excellent baking source, as it is a saturated fat.

In Conclusion

There is a clear reason why there is so much weight gain in the world today, and it’s because ‘health experts’ tell us what to eat. In truth, the best way to lose weight is to eat fat to lose fat. Doctors and heart experts support this. It’s time to re-educate ourselves about good and bad fats. Saturated fats are not bad. They are the healthiest fats to cook with due to their non-oxidation, while polyunsaturated fats are very prone to oxidation, which release free radicals.
