It is well known that caffeine can speed up the metabolism, but the latest research shows that too much caffeine could contribute to weight gain. Previous research determined that just two cups of coffee per day could reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and supported weight loss, but Australian researchers discovered that if the body consumes too many polyphenols (found in coffee), this could contribute to weight gain through insulin resistance.
